Overview

Preston Bell Foundation, Inc., welcomes individuals  seeking to complete community service hours, including court-ordered requirements, school-mandated service, and other programs. Volunteers support outreach initiatives that assist individuals and families experiencing hardship in the Pasadena and surrounding areas.  Volunteers assist with programs that support individuals and families experiencing hardship in the Pasadena and surrounding areas through community outreach and service activities.

Program Purpose

Preston Bell Foundation, Inc. provides community service opportunities that benefit the public by supporting individuals and families experiencing hardship through outreach, assistance programs, and community support activities in the Pasadena and surrounding areas.

Eligibility

Preston Bell Foundation, Inc., accepts individuals completing court-ordered community service for qualifying matters, including:

·         Traffic violations

·         Minor criminal charges

·         First-offender diversion programs

·         Probation conditions

·         Court-ordered restitution through community service

Individuals must provide documentation from the court, probation department, or referral program confirming their required community service hours.

Description of Volunteer Activities

Volunteers assist Preston Bell Foundation, Inc. with community service activities that benefit the public and support individuals and families experiencing hardship in the Pasadena and surrounding areas through outreach and assistance programs. Volunteer duties may include:

·         Assisting with community outreach activities

·         Helping distribute food and essential supplies to individuals and families

·         Packing and organizing donated items

·         Assisting with event cleanup after outreach activities

Volunteers may also assist with visits to residents of local convalescent hospitals, where the organization provides companionship, prayer, and Christian fellowship to residents who wish to participate.

Authorized program staff supervises all volunteer activities. Community service activities are non-political and non-discriminatory, and participation in any religious or faith-based activity is voluntary for court-referred volunteers.

Important Program Policies

·         Court or probation documentation confirming required community service hours must be presented on the first day of service.

·         Community service verification forms will only be signed for hours that have been completed and documented through the organization’s official volunteer attendance log.

·         Volunteers must follow all instructions provided by supervisors and maintain respectful conduct toward staff, community members, and other volunteers.

·         Volunteers who schedule a service shift but cannot attend should notify the organization in advance so that the service opportunity can be made available to others.

Community Service Hour Verification

All court-referred volunteers must sign in and sign out for each service shift. Hours are recorded on an official volunteer log and verified by a supervising representative of Preston Bell Foundation, Inc.

Court or probation verification forms will only be signed for hours that have been completed and documented through the organization’s attendance log.

Supervision and Conduct

Authorized program staff supervises all community service volunteers. Volunteers must complete assigned duties during scheduled service hours and follow all instructions provided by supervisors.

Volunteers are expected to conduct themselves respectfully toward staff, community members, and other volunteers.

Service Hours Available

Community service opportunities are generally available during the following times:

·         Weekdays (various outreach and organizational activities)

·         Weekend outreach events in the Pasadena and surrounding areas

Scheduling may vary depending on outreach activities and community events.

What to Bring on Your First Day

Individuals completing court-ordered community service should bring:

·         Court or probation documentation showing required community service hours.

·         Any verification forms that require signatures by the organization.

·         A valid photo ID

·         Comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor outreach activities.

How to Request Community Service Hours

Individuals seeking to complete court-ordered community service hours must complete the organization’s volunteer Intake Form to request placement. The form collects basic information including the number of hours required and the deadline for completion.

What Happens After You Apply

After the Intake Form is submitted, a representative from Preston Bell Foundation, Inc., will contact the applicant within 24 hours regarding scheduling and available service opportunities.
